New Delhi, September 29, 2026: Indian stock markets remained in focus on Tuesday as investors tracked a combination of global market weakness, higher crude oil prices and several company-specific developments. The Nifty 50 and Sensex continued to face pressure after a sharp sell-off in the previous session.

Among the key stocks and sectors attracting attention were Tata Group companies, Ola Electric, pharmaceutical stocks, Reliance Industries, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea and ITC.

Tata Group stocks remain under watch

Tata Group companies came under pressure following reports concerning a proposed strategic restructuring of Tata Sons by Tata Trusts. The proposal involves merging two group entities with Tata Sons, potentially affecting the holding company's regulatory and listing structure. (Reuters)

Shares of several listed Tata companies declined during Tuesday's trading session, with Tata Chemicals, Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra), Tata Investment Corporation and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles among the companies in focus.

Ola Electric approves ₹1,000-crore rights issue

Electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ola Electric also remained on the market radar after its board approved a rights issue of partly paid-up equity shares to raise ₹1,000 crore.

The fundraising comes shortly after the company had approved plans to mobilise up to ₹1,500 crore, making its capital-raising strategy a key development for investors tracking the electric mobility sector.

Pharma stocks track US tariff developments

Pharmaceutical companies remained in focus amid developments surrounding US trade measures on certain patented pharmaceutical products and their associated ingredients.

At the same time, qualifying specialty medicines from India were reported to be eligible for zero duty under the latest framework, providing a different impact across pharmaceutical companies depending on their product mix and US exposure.

Vodafone Idea, Reliance and Airtel in focus

Telecom stocks were also being closely watched following the latest subscriber data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.

Reliance Jio added nearly 2.40 million wireless mobile subscribers in August, while Bharti Airtel added about 2.11 million. Vodafone Idea recorded an addition of approximately 506,000 subscribers during the month.

The subscriber numbers provide a fresh indicator of competitive trends within India's telecom market.

ITC completes acquisition of Sproutlife

ITC was another company in focus after the FMCG major acquired an additional 13,445 equity shares of Sproutlife through a secondary purchase.

Following the transaction, ITC holds 100% of the share capital of Sproutlife, according to the company's disclosure cited in the market report.

Global cues remain important

The domestic market was also responding to broader international developments. Asian markets were largely lower, while US equities had ended the previous session with losses. Brent crude prices also moved higher amid uncertainty surrounding developments in West Asia.

With several corporate announcements coinciding with volatile global conditions, investors were closely monitoring individual stocks for company-specific developments alongside broader market trends.
