New Delhi, September 29, 2026: Ola Electric Mobility has approved a rights issue of partly paid-up equity shares to raise up to ₹1,000 crore, marking another significant fundraising initiative by the electric two-wheeler manufacturer.
The decision was approved by the company’s Board of Directors on September 28, 2026. The proposed rights issue will provide eligible existing shareholders with an opportunity to subscribe to additional equity shares, subject to the terms and conditions to be announced by the company.
Key details, including the issue price, entitlement ratio, number of shares, record date, payment schedule and issue timeline, are expected to be determined and announced as part of the subsequent issue process.
Capital Raise to Support Business Requirements
The proposed ₹1,000-crore fundraising comes as Ola Electric continues to focus on strengthening its financial position and supporting its business operations.
A portion of the proceeds is expected to be directed towards debt repayment, while another portion is proposed to support the company’s organic growth initiatives. The remaining funds are expected to be used for general corporate purposes, subject to the final terms of the issue.
The rights issue structure will allow existing shareholders to participate in the fundraising in proportion to their eligible holdings, helping the company raise additional capital while providing shareholders with an opportunity to maintain their ownership interest.
Founder Bhavish Aggarwal to Participate
Ola Electric founder and Chairman & Managing Director Bhavish Aggarwal is expected to participate in the rights issue through his eligible entitlement.
The promoter participation comes as the company continues to work on strengthening its position in India's rapidly developing electric mobility market.
Another Fundraising Exercise in 2026
The latest rights issue follows Ola Electric’s earlier fundraising activity during 2026. The company had raised capital through a qualified institutional placement, adding to its funding resources for business operations and growth initiatives.
The latest ₹1,000-crore rights issue therefore represents another step in the company’s broader capital strategy as it seeks to balance expansion requirements with financial management.
Competition Intensifies in Electric Two-Wheelers
Ola Electric operates in an increasingly competitive Indian electric two-wheeler market, with established automotive manufacturers and dedicated EV companies expanding their presence in the segment.
The company has been investing in its electric scooter portfolio, manufacturing capabilities, battery technology and broader energy ecosystem. At the same time, changing consumer preferences, competition, pricing and the pace of EV adoption continue to influence the sector.
The additional capital could provide Ola Electric with greater financial resources as it works on its product portfolio, technology development and operational expansion.
What Comes Next
The next key developments for investors will be the announcement of the issue price, rights entitlement ratio, record date and subscription schedule.
The utilisation of the ₹1,000 crore will also remain an important area of focus as the company works to strengthen its balance sheet and fund its growth plans.
With the latest rights issue, Ola Electric is entering another important phase of its capital strategy, combining fundraising with efforts to manage debt and invest in its long-term electric mobility business.
