Concerns have intensified over the whereabouts of Lax Gopisetty, chief executive officer of Infosys Public Services, after he became unreachable following devastating flash floods in Nepal.

Gopisetty was visiting Nepal in a personal capacity when the region was struck by severe flooding. Infosys confirmed that it has been unable to establish contact with its senior executive and said efforts are underway to gather information about his whereabouts.

The Bengaluru-headquartered technology company said its immediate priority is the safety and well-being of Gopisetty. The company is coordinating with relevant agencies and remaining in close contact with his family as efforts continue to establish communication.

“We can confirm that our colleague Lax Gopisetty, who was visiting the region in a personal capacity, is currently not reachable,” Infosys said in a statement.

The company added that it is working with the appropriate authorities to obtain information and establish contact with him. Infosys also said it is providing all necessary support to Gopisetty’s family during the difficult period.

Devastating Floods Leave Hundreds Unaccounted For

The disappearance of the Infosys executive comes amid a broader humanitarian crisis in Nepal, where powerful flash floods have affected several areas and left large numbers of people missing or stranded.

According to information released by India's Ministry of External Affairs, 320 Indian nationals remained missing, while hundreds of others were reported to be stranded on the Chinese side of the affected region. Authorities have been coordinating rescue and evacuation efforts.

The disaster has triggered extensive search-and-rescue operations, with authorities working to locate missing people and assist stranded Indian citizens.

Twenty-one Indian nationals who had reached Kathmandu from the flood-affected areas were subsequently brought back to New Delhi, according to the MEA.

Gopisetty is a senior technology and public-sector transformation executive who leads Infosys Public Services, an Infosys subsidiary focused primarily on public-sector clients in the United States and Canada.

According to his professional profile, his responsibilities include advising public-sector organisations on strategy, technology, operations and transformation, while overseeing the company's broader strategy and execution.

Before becoming the head of Infosys Public Services, Gopisetty held senior leadership positions at Infosys, including Global Vice President and head of its Business Applications and Digital Workspace Service business.

His career also includes senior roles at Accenture, BearingPoint, IBM, PwC and HCL, giving him extensive experience across technology consulting, public-sector transformation and digital services.

The company has stressed that Gopisetty was travelling privately and was not in Nepal as part of an official Infosys assignment.
