In a major investigative development, Pune Rural Police on Sunday brought prime accused Siya Goyal (20) back to Lohagad Fort the very hilltop where 26-year-old realtor Ketan Agarwal was allegedly pushed to his death on June 18 to carry out a full crime scene reconstruction.
Using a weighted dummy matching Ketan's body weight, officers asked Siya to retrace every movement: the route she and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary (22) took after arriving at the fort, where they sat, how they coordinated with each other, and the exact location from which Ketan was allegedly pushed.
Pune Rural Police SP Sandeep Singh Gill confirmed to ANI: "The accused have been taken to the Lohagad Fort, specifically to the spot where the incident occurred, to recreate the scene."
DSP Gajanan Tompe added: "We created a dummy with the same weight as the victim for the reconstruction. Siya explained what happened at the spot, and based on the details given by her, we recreated the entire sequence."
Co-accused Chetan Chaudhary was not part of Sunday's exercise but will be taken to the fort separately for a similar reconstruction, police confirmed.

Who Was Ketan Agarwal?
Ketan Vishal Agarwal was a 26-year-old businessman from Gahunje in Pune district. He served as Director and Chief Marketing Officer of his family's real estate firm, Success Group, a well-established name in Pune's property market.
By all outward appearances, Ketan's life was on an upward curve. He had gotten engaged to Siya Goyal in February 2026, and the two families had already booked a luxury palace in Udaipur worth ₹17 crore for a grand November wedding. According to relatives, both families had arranged two private jets to ferry guests to the venue. Everything pointed to a bright future until June 18 changed everything.
How the Murder Was Discovered
June 18: A Birthday Trek Turns Fatal
Ketan, Siya, and their friend group visited Lohagad Fort, officially to celebrate Siya's birthday. During the trek, Ketan fell into a gorge approximately 350 feet deep. Initially, both Siya and Chetan who had arrived at the fort separately on a two-wheeler claimed the death was an accidental fall.
A security guard at the fort, identified as Jadhav, recalled that after hearing screams, he rushed to the spot. "I asked Siya Goyal what happened, and she said, 'Yaha se koi gir gaya hai' (someone has fallen from here). I immediately informed the police," he said.
Officers posted at the scene later noted that Siya displayed no visible grief or remorse a detail that raised initial suspicions among investigators.
CCTV Footage: The Key Break
Investigators combing through CCTV footage from the fort made a critical discovery: footage showed Chetan following Siya and Ketan up the fort steps. At one point, Siya appeared to gesture toward Chetan to stop, after which he sat down on the stairs and only moved ahead again after receiving a second signal from her. Police described this as a pre-decided coordination signal used just before Ketan was allegedly pushed.
Police also noted that Chetan had entered the upper section of the fort without purchasing a ticket, telling staff he would pay on the way back. After the alleged murder, investigators claim he left the site without settling the fee.
The Interrogation That Unravelled Everything
When police examined mobile phones and social media accounts, the case took a sharp turn. Investigators discovered:
- Siya and Chetan had exchanged over 2,004 phone calls in approximately six months
- Both had deleted WhatsApp chats, Instagram conversations, and other data not just from their devices but even from the recycle bins
- Forensic teams have been tasked with recovering the erased data to establish the alleged pre-murder conspiracy
The Motive: An Unwanted Arranged Marriage
Police allege the motive behind the killing was deeply personal. Siya, despite accepting the arranged engagement, had allegedly developed a romantic relationship with Chetan Chaudhary — a connection that began through cricket.
According to investigators, Chetan was an amateur cricketer who regularly played matches with Siya's elder brother, Sahil Goyal. Siya often accompanied her brother to these games, which is where she first met Chetan. What began as a friendship reportedly deepened into a relationship that continued even after Siya's engagement to Ketan.
Police say that rather than calling off the wedding — which Siya reportedly feared would bring social disrepute to her family — she allegedly chose a far darker path: planning Ketan's death with Chetan.
Investigators have also revealed a distressing detail: Siya had allegedly told police she did not want to marry Ketan partly because he wore a small patch of wig — a fact her family had been aware of. Ketan's father, Vishal Agarwal, reacted publicly with grief and anger, saying: "Why was my son murdered? The wedding could have simply been called off."
This Was Not the First Attempt
One of the most disturbing revelations in this case is that June 18 was not the first time Siya and Chetan allegedly tried to kill Ketan. A clear pattern emerged from police investigations:
May 31: The couple visited Lohagad Fort together. Police believe this was a reconnaissance visit and a first, unsuccessful attempt.
June 4: Another visit was reportedly planned but was cancelled because Ketan's mother did not allow it.
June 14: During a visit to a cliff location, Siya allegedly tried to push Ketan from a cliff edge. Ketan survived by clutching onto a bush. When he asked what had happened, Siya allegedly told him she had panicked after seeing a snake and was trying to protect him. Ketan, trusting his fiancée, believed her.
June 18: The third and fatal attempt succeeded at Lohagad Fort.
The Accused Blame Each Other
Since their arrest on June 23, both Siya and Chetan have been in seven-day police custody, granted by a Magistrate Court in Pune after their advocate opposed the remand but was overruled.
Significantly, the two accused have adopted conflicting positions during interrogation. Police say:
- Chetan claims he only wanted the two of them to elope, and that it was Siya who insisted on killing Ketan.
- Siya claims that Chetan was the mastermind who persuaded her to participate in the murder.
Investigators are treating these contradictory statements as an attempt by both accused to minimise their individual culpability and shift primary responsibility onto the other. Police say the physical evidence, digital records, and CCTV footage will be cross-referenced with both accounts to establish the exact chain of events.
Family Grief and Public Outcry
The case has triggered an emotional public response across Pune. Ketan's father, Vishal Agarwal, participated in a candlelight march on Saturday, joined by residents demanding swift justice.
Vishal also made a public appeal to potential witnesses: "Some people are messaging us, saying they were present at the fort, but they are not approaching the police. I urge all of them to come forward and help us get justice for Ketan. I assure them they will not face any problems."
He also met Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis earlier in the week. The CM assured the family that the case would be fast-tracked through the judicial process.
Where the Investigation Stands Today
Pune Rural Police are currently pursuing several parallel tracks:
Digital forensics: Recovering deleted WhatsApp, Instagram, and phone data to establish the conspiracy timeline before June 18.
Witness statements: Sahil Goyal, Siya's brother, was questioned for nearly 10 hours on Friday regarding his knowledge of Siya's relationship with Chetan. He was later allowed to leave. Statements from other family members are expected to be recorded next.
CCTV analysis: Footage from the fort is being mapped against the statements of both accused to identify discrepancies.
Physical reconstruction: Sunday's crime scene exercise at Lohagad Fort will be followed by a separate reconstruction involving Chetan Chaudhary.
Call records and location data: Over 2,000 calls between Siya and Chetan are being analysed to identify any conversations specifically about planning the murder.
